CHCLC relies on volunteers, pro bono lawyers, work for the dole participants and in-kind support to extend and enhance its services beyond its funded capacity. Thank you to the following people and private law firms which have supported CHCLC and its clients this year. Committee of Management Reception Reception is the first point on contact for visitors and clients. Volunteers assist with client intake, data entry, call management and general administrative duties.
Students The students assist our staff with casework, research, duty lawyer work at the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court and general administration duties.
Year 10 Work Experience Students CHCLC welcomes year 10 work experience students. Students are provided with a diverse range of tasks and receive a “very hands-on" experience. Solicitors Volunteer Solicitors bring specialist expertise in areas of the law in which they practice to support the generalist legal service provided by CHCLC. Volunteer solicitors provide legal advice twice a week, allowing for an additional 10 - 12 appointments for clients that may not have otherwise been possible. |
Belinda's ExperienceVolunteering at Central Highlands Community Legal Centre has been a super rewarding experience. I got so much more than I gave. I made new friends, got work experience in an industry that I love, met some really lovely clients and had my self-confidence boosted beyond belief. |
